After security cameras became popular among business and industry the next logical step was security cameras for the home. Every year more and more people are installing security cameras in their homes and with good reason. Home security cameras give the owner more security in knowing what is and isnt happening in their home. From protection from crime to Nanny cameras to see how their children are being treated security cameras have taken the security scene by storm.

Choosing home security cameras is tough for the novice, however with a little guidance one can make a good decision. The first step in choosing home security cameras is to answer the questions listed below. Determine what image quality you need. Do you want crystal clear images on your security cameras or do you want just to be able to monitor activity and dont necessarily need clear images. Do you want the images to be recorded and stored for potential evidence or are you using the camera system more for surveillance reasons.

Are you adding the security cameras to your already existing home security which may require hardwiring or would you rather avoid wiring by going with wireless security cameras?

Do you plan on installing exterior security cameras which have proven to be a huge deterrent crime. It seems most criminals dont want their picture taken. A huge message is sent to anyone considering a crime on your property when they see a home security camera.

Will all of your home security cameras be installed inside the home? Many people use security cameras and hidden cameras to monitor workers, Maids, and Nannys. Nanny cameras are particularly popular as many people want to monitor how their children are treated by the Nanny when Mom and Dad are away? Its important to note many states have strict laws about interior security cameras and especially so for hidden cameras as to where and how they can be used. Check with your state or security system provider for a copy of this laws.
