Home Invasions were unheard of several years back, however if you watch the news youll see home invasions are now common. Defending your family against a home invasion is an action you must take. What is a home invasion? A home invasion is someone forcing their way into your residence with the specific intent of attacking the occupants by some means.

Defending Your Family Against An Invasion of Your House

In general improving the physical security of your home is the best way to protect your family from such an invasion.

Have an electronic protection system installed in your residence with alarms going directly to a monitoring station. Always keep your protection system armed.

Since home invasions can be a crime of oppurtunity the harder your home looks to a thief casing your house the less likelihood of a home invasion. When we say hard we mean a hard target for someone to get into with upgraded doors and locks, excess lighting because the criminal doesnt want to be seen.

Have deadbolts installed on all doors.

Do not overlook the garage as a possible point of entry.

Reinforce door frames with anti-kick strips so the lock doesnt give way when the door is kicked or rammed.

Reinforce the locks on your windows.

Home Invasions dont always mean the guy will try to ram your front door in. Sometimes they will appear at the door in a meek manner asking for directions or selling something.

DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR TO STRANGERS.
