
Parts Of A Home Security System
Keypad This is how you control the security system. It is used to arm and disarm the system as well as detect where there might be a problem in the system.
Control Panel- This part of your home security system is usually located in a closet or some obscure place. Its where the brains of your system for home security are located. It is also where all the wires flow to assuming you have a hard-wired home security system.
Window and Door Contacts- When a window or door is open these contacts send a message to your home security system to sound the alarm or siren.
Siren- This is the audio that sounds when your system is set off. Sirens are usually loud enough to alert the neighbors for several hundred yards away.
Motion Detectors- These are units placed inside the house to alert the homeowner of movement. Although they have their part in home security keep in mind in order for an indoor motion detector to trigger your home security system the criminal must be in your house.
Monitored Home Security Station- This is where the information about your home security system being triggered is sent to. They have all of your relevant information on hand including your address and passwords in case you need to call in a false alarm.
