Children and Learning Home Security
Teach your child never to answer the door and to never let anyone into the house even if the person at the doors says their a security figure. If it truly is a Police Officer hell find a way in without the child needing to open the door.
A vital part of home security is the use of 9-1-1 for emergency calls only. Teach your child when he or she should use 9-1-1 and when he or she shouldnt.
Make sure your child knows their name and address in case they were ever to be lost or kidnapped.
Teach your child where to go in case he or she should end up lost.
Keep the phone numbers for you, your spouse or other trusted family members in case your child ever needed help while you were away from home or incapacitated.
Teach your child the importance of home security and keep the house secure and protected at all times. Thing such as making sure the door is locked behind them when coming in from playtime.
Show your child how to arm and disarm your home security system.
Tell your child what they should and shouldnt say to a caller on the phone. A child old enough to be left alone should never let anyone on the phone know he or she is alone.
